6 Reasons Why I Saw Soldiers Fail Special Forces Selection.
1️⃣Didn't adapt well
The individual adaptability and resilience to cope with the accumulative stress of 21 days of pressure fell short.
2️⃣Couldn't care for themselves & the team
They could not consistently operate as an effective team player, teamwork skills crumbled under pressure.
3️⃣Poor emotional control
They could not consistently control their emotions and make coherent and effective decisions under extreme pressure.
4️⃣Didn't embrace discomfort
They could not manage/embrace the relentless discomfort which is enforced upon them during selection.
5️⃣Lack of mental preparation
They were poorly prepared mentally for what was to come. Either through lack of planning, awareness or engagement in mental performance skills.
6️⃣Couldn't tolerate stress effectively
They had not exposed themselves to increasingly stressful situations in their own training.
There are loads of reasons why I saw people fail, but these are 6 that shone out for me and my team.
These are skills that we all need in life to manage our challenges, thrive under pressure, and enjoy the journey.
