Stop Trying to Remove Stress.
We need stress in our lives, otherwise we get bored, demotivated and become uninterested or even apathetic to what we are doing.
But we need to keep some measure of control over stress so it doesn’t get too high or too low.
Managing stress doesn't just improve performance, engagement and productivity at work. Keeping on top of everyday stressors supports you to be present at home, switching off effectively and to take some quality time for yourself.
Some really basic first steps we can all take immediately…
- Identify the source of your stress. Write them down, at home and work. It all drains the same battery 🔋
- Look closely at the way you respond to your stressors. If it’s not always favourable or serving you well. What would an ideal response be?
- How can you move towards the more favourable response? What are the necessary steps you can put in place?
- Stay left of the bang 💥. Have your daily, weekly and monthly stress reduction/well-being activities planned in.
Stress is unavoidable, we can’t removing and we should stop trying to, how we respond to stress is critical to thriving with it.
Remember everyone experiences stress differently, so it's important to find what works best for you. Don't be afraid to try unusual techniques or seek help from someone who you trust.
