We Want Progress Not Perfect.
When I work with clients this is one of the first things I say.
I can visibly see the weight lift.
There is a tendency with a lot of us to seek that perfection, if I can’t do it right and nail it every time, why bother?
That adds to the weight of (un-reasonable) expectation, ⬆️ stress not reducing it.
The problem is that mentality has bled into these areas of our life
👉 Self-care
“I love the gym and playing golf, but I just don’t have time for either at the moment, so it doesn’t happen.”
👉 Work:life harmony
“I’ve got no balance. It is the way it is, I’ll rest when I have a holiday in 2 months.”
👉 Connection
“I’ve not seen my friends for so long. I’ll see them when things calm down and I have some free time.”
👉 Well-being
“I’m last, always. The kids, my job, my husband, even the bloody dog! May as well get used to it and crack on, as I can’t see it changing anytime soon.”
We can’t snap our fingers and solve these challenges.
But we can take steps forward and start thinking about what you CAN do, and not what you cannot do.
You could…
✅ Arrange to meet a friend to go to the driving range
✅ Talk to your partner and schedule in ‘you time’, book the babysitter, call in the favour and build your breathing space
✅ Build a daily, weekly & monthly disconnection routine so you aren’t clinging on by your fingernails to your next holiday.
✅ Consciously regulate your breath during day-to-day activities
There are literally hundreds of ways you can adjust your expectations and make progress.
That’s what I do.
I help you take the first steps, make progress and accept that sometimes good, really is good enough.
